Aortic Valve Stenosis: Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Replacement
Aortic valve stenosis is a common age-related condition of the tricuspid aortic valve caused by progressive calcification. The calcification narrows the valve opening or prevents it from closing completely. Other conditions causing aortic valve stenosis include calcification of a congenital bicuspid aortic valve. Treatment for symptomatic aortic stenosis is a valve replacement.
This video presents a minimally invasive aortic valve replacement using a ministernotomy approach, which typically results in a faster and less uncomfortable recovery for patients than a complete sternotomy.
