Cardiac Lead Extraction

As the number of implantable cardiac defibrillator (ICD) placements grows, there is an increasing need for management of ICD leads. Laurence M. Epstein, MD, Chief of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Service at Brigham and Women's Hospital, illustrates ICD lead extraction in a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) who requires a change of his device due to normal battery depletion and has a defective ICD lead.
