Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy

In this video, Adam Kibel, MD, Chief of Urology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, demonstrates a radical prostatectomy using the Da Vinci robotic surgical system. The controversies surrounding screening and treatment of prostate cancer are briefly discussed. This minimally invasive robotic technique allows precise and careful removal of the prostate with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.  This results in marked decrease in pain and blood loss and improved functional outcomes.
