Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery

In this video, Ronald Bleday, MD, Section Chief, Division of Colorectal Surgery, demonstrates the use of the Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM) system. The system uses an operating rigid scope via the anus to remove small tumors of the lower and mid rectum. The operation allows for the avoidance of a radical resection in selected patients leading to a faster recovery with similar oncologic outcomes.
